Davidoff Signature 2000 Cigar Review

Davidoff Signature 2000 Cigar Review

Time for another honest cigar review, and this time we are going for a true staple in the premium segment, the Davidoff Signature 2000. This is a cigar Axel has returned to many times over the years, and for good reason. Between the two of us, this was a great opportunity to compare impressions in slightly different conditions, Axel indoors with a glass of sweet rum, and Alex outdoors while grilling some meat.

Davidoff is known for consistency and refinement, and this cigar sits right at the core of that identity, focusing more on balance and smoothness than boldness.

Construction and draw

Construction was excellent on both samples. The wrapper is clean, smooth and very evenly applied, and the cigar feels perfectly balanced in hand. Draw was effortless but still controlled, producing a steady and refined smoke output. Burn was straight throughout, and this is one of those cigars where the construction really stands out, especially for Alex, who noted it as the most impressive aspect of the experience.

Flavor

Flavor wise, this cigar opens very mild and creamy. Axel noted soft cedar and fresh baked bread right from the start, which is a very accurate way to describe the initial profile. As the cigar develops, it stays smooth and composed, with creamy notes remaining at the core, supported by light cedar, subtle earth and a gentle nutty character.

In the latter half, small hints of pepper begin to appear for Axel, adding just enough contrast without disturbing the overall balance. This is not a cigar that changes dramatically, instead it stays consistent and refined, rewarding a slower smoking pace. Both of us found that taking it slow really allows the flavors to come through more clearly.

Pairing

Axel enjoyed this cigar indoors with a glass of sweet rum, which paired extremely well with the creamy and slightly bready profile. The sweetness of the rum complements the cigar without overpowering it. Alex smoked his outdoors together with a glass of homemade (By yours truly) apple cider. While it still performed well, this feels like a cigar that truly shines in a calm environment where you can take your time with it. The cider pairing was OK, but did not enhance the cigar as other options could.

Who will enjoy this

This cigar is ideal for smokers who appreciate mild, refined and well balanced cigars. It suits both beginners looking for a high quality entry point and experienced smokers who enjoy a smooth, elegant profile rather than bold intensity. It is especially well suited for slow, relaxed smoking sessions. Simply a safe choice you can't go wrong with for that special occasion.
